Advanced Robotics (AR)

Entering Grades 3 - 6
Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! In this full week of half-days, learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super cool red-hot robots. Experiment with sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, solar powered robots and robots that can even be programmed! Discover the science of circuits and how robots use their components to explore and react to what is around them. Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home with you!

Each camper will build and take home their own Robot and Snap Circuit project (pictured above) at the end of the week!

With OWI's Robotic Arm Edge, command the gripper to open and close, with wrist motion of 120 degrees, and extensive elbow range of 300 degrees, base rotation of 270 degrees, base motion of 180 degrees, vertical reach of 15 inches, horizontal reach of 12.6, and lifting capacity of 100g!  Some of the added features include a search light design on the gripper and a safety gear audible indicator is included on all five gear boxes to prevent any potential injury or gear breakage during operation.  Any young robot enthusiast needs this for his/her collection!

Daily Themes
(Order of activities may vary)

Robots 101 - Day 1

The fundamentals of robotics will be reviewed, analyzing robots' anatomy and discovering how each of their components works. Children will begin to construct their very own robot to take home at the end of the week.

You are in command! - Day 2
Sensors will be revisited under a new "light". Children will experiment with robots that quickly respond to their commands and even draw on their own! They will also experiment with electricity and build their own "reflex tester".

Robot Engineering - Day 3
During this fun-filled day, the campers will learn about robot design as well as the applications of robotic technology. They will continue building their own robot while experiment with a number of fascinating robots.

Smart Robots - Day 4
Children will earn about the laws of robotics and binary system. They will use their newly acquired knowledge to program some cool robots that follow commands based on the basic principles of binary coding.

Ready to conquer the world! - Day 5
Their newly "born" robots will be tried, adjusted and put to the test by their "masters". The children will then "grade" all the robots they tested during the week to find the best performer. Campers will test out several large scale robots and try the robot hands in a mechanical challenge!
