How to Make Learning Fun for Children

Nov 21, 2013 12:00 AM

Learning can be fun!

School can be challenging for kids and along with the task of making friends and navigating the social climate at school; subjects like math and science can prove to make school a bit daunting. Although it’s true that these subjects are often the ones teacher’s find the most challenging to present, it doesn’t have to be that way!

The Challenge for Teachers

Teachers often find themselves dealing with all kinds of situations, learning or behaviour challenges, and varying academic levels. It is no doubt that Long Island teachers have a big job to do and often not enough time or resources to get the job done as good as they would like.

Making learning fun can often seem impossible when you’re facing time restraints, deadlines for having your class up to a certain level, or behavioural issues that keep impeding your lessons. If you’re a new teacher these factors can make your well-planned out lessons fall to pieces. But there are things you can do to work around these challenges.

A Solution for Teachers and Students

Here at Mad Science of Long Island, we have been working with Long Island schools for many years providing teachers and students with engaging and valuable science based programs. Our programming meets STEM objectives, as well as all state and national standards. We can introduce or enhance topics that your curriculum is currently covering. That comes as good news for teachers looking for a way to catch the interest of their students!

Finding a partner to work with in delivering science topics not only makes the teacher’s job easier, it makes learning a fun and memorable experience for the children. After all, a successful lesson will be easy to remember!

Mad Science Workshops

Our workshops are completely interactive and include professional lesson plans, all necessary equipment and materials, and are delivered by our entertaining Mad Scientists.  We can work around schedules, budgets, and class sizes so don’t hesitate to give us a call and find out more about our in-class workshops!

Because our workshops come straight to you, you will eliminate the costs of travel/busing students and supervision. Our resource guides allow you to expand the lesson further after the workshop is over, meaning you can get the most out of our presentation by carrying it further into your curriculum.

After School Programs

Another great way to make learning fun is through after school programs. When kids are introduced to a topic through multiple people and experiences they tend to remember it and find it more interesting. A Mad Science after school program will provide a fun way for kids to explore science in a hands-on and exciting way. It also offers program coordinators a hassle free, engaging programming alternative. Take a look at our after school programs page here.

School Assemblies

Why not have your entire school benefits from a boost in science? Offering a Mad Science assembly will not only provide your students with a seriously fun presentation; it will help to reinforce the topics that your teachers are presenting. Sparking imagination and creating life-long learners is something our Mad Scientists do with a passion. Take a look at our assemblies page to find out more.
