** Summer Camp 2020 Update **

Most of our partner locations have decided not to run in-person camps this summer due to the COVID-19 situation. We regret to inform you that most of camps had to be canceled for that reason. We are running camps in partnership with the Garden City Parks & Rec., which for now are open to Garden City residents only. If any of the camps are under capacity the week before the camp starts, non-residents may be accommodated. Please check with us at that time if you are interested.

FAQ

Can I sign my child up for more than one camp?

Yes, in fact, we encourage it. Each program is completely different, so your child can enjoy them all without repeating activities!

+

Will all camp sessions run?

The minimum number of campers necessary to hold a camp is 10. We always give at least a week's notice if we have to cancel a camp.

+

What are your full-day and half-day camp hours?

Our full-day camps are 6 hours long and run from 9AM to 3PM. Our half-day camps are 3 hours long and run from 9AM to 12PM, 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM 1PM to 4PM.

+

What is the camper to instructor ratio?

Our camper to instructor ratio will never be greater than 12 to 1. The average-size camp is about 20 children with 2 instructors. With the popularity of some themes and weeks of the summer, several camps could reach their maximum occupancy, which is 20.

+

Who are the Mad Science camp instructors?

They tend to be teachers on summer break, or college students pursuing an education or science degree. All of our instructors have experience working with large groups of children, have undergone background checks, and have received extensive summer camp specific training. One shared characteristic is that they all love working with children.

+

Do you provide a snack?

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE A "NUT-FREE" CAMP. Due to concerns with food allergies, we will not provide a snack. Only at those locations that are Kosher facilities we will have a snack that complies with their requests, so you do not need to send one. At all locations we have a mid-morning break and always have drinking water available.

+

Do you have early or late care?

Mad Science does not offer any extended care options at this time. Campers should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the camp start time. An authorized parent or guardian must be at the camp site to assume responsibility for your child at the stated end time of camp.

+

What ages are your camps for?

All of our camps are suitable for children entering grades one through six.
