Description

Half Day Camp (typically 9am - 12pm).

Check specific camp listing for times.

Science and engineering go hand in hand as our campers discover what machines and nature have in common. Campers will build various structures like bridges and domes, discover how animals and bugs move through their world and ours, and run a crazy obstacle course with the help of simple machines.

Daily Themes:
o Jr. Engineers
o Crazy Chemistry
o Shutterbugs!
o Machine Mania
o The Birds and The Beasts

* Order of activities may vary

Additional Information

Crazy Chemistry
Watch these molecules move! Discover what a chemical reactions is and identify if a new substance is formed. Mix, mush and brew together different chemicals to create things that you can use in this hands-on chemistry lab.
Jr. Engineers
Check out shapes and why they are so strong! Investigate arches, geodesic domes, and discover why an egg's shape is so strong. Build bridges and other structures then take them to the breaking point with our load test.
Machine Mania
Find out how wedges, screws and levers help us with our daily lives. Use simple machines to complete different tasks like lifting weights and launch a marshmallow. Run through an obstacle course and use teamwork to show how useful simple machines can be!
Newton's Loco-Motion
Sir Isaac Newton was very curious about how things move. Discover Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. Campers will experiment to learn how inertia works and see gravity as a physical force. Campers build a gravity simulator and an inertia tester!
Shutterbugs
How does a camera work? What does a lens do? How do our eyes work? How does film capture light and store an image? All these questions and more will be answered in this hands-on program where campers get to experience all aspects of moving light.
